The question of who needs a 1,000 hp Chevrolet Suburban or Tahoe is irrelevant here as Specialty Vehicle Engineering has already drawn up plans to make and sell these through Chevy dealers.
The easiest part of the whole deal is the ordering. You can walk into a Chevy dealer and book a supercharged people hauler with the kind of power to intimidate a hypercar owner in a bragging party. Once the order is placed, Specialty Vehicle Engineering will build 1,000 hp Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe SUVs at a hefty premium. We’ll come to money matters later.
So what have the scientists at SVE done to these juggernauts which are otherwise seen as people carriers for everyone from law enforcement firms to corporates, and the families in between? To begin with, the SVE team didn’t find the standard engine good enough to build their tower of awesomeness. So the factory unit went straight to a dumpster and an LT1 motor – a custom-built 6.8-liter V8 with forged internals, a revised fuel system, a full stainless steel exhaust, and a king-sized supercharger – pushed its way into the engine bay. Voila, you’ve now got a power figure capable of turning a LaFerrari green with envy.
SVE offers two levels of tuning for the Suburban and Tahoe. Stage 1 is an 810 hp package with everything mentioned above, available for both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive versions. A heavy duty auto transmission is optional here. The cost of upgrading the SUV to this mode is around $44,995 on top of the donor vehicle.
Stage 2 is the beast which produces 1,000 hp. The heavy-duty auto gearbox comes standard and Specialty Vehicle Engineering will execute the transformation only for the rear-wheel drive variants of Suburban and Tahoe. Do inform the bank that a $66,995 withdrawal is coming their way soon.

On top of these, SVE has lined up 22-inch wheels with Falken Ziex tires, a satin finish paint on the factory color and our personal favorite, a lowered suspension setup. Again, these will be charged on top of the aforementioned prices. Both upgrades come with a 3-year/36,000-mile, while the transmission gets a 12-month/12,000-mile warranty.
