The order guide for the 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 has leaked and according to a video uploaded on YouTube channel Speed Phenom, those snazzy painted racing stripes are an expensive option. How expensive? That’ll be $10,000, sir.
How in God’s name are a couple of stripes that pricey? Well, Ford has to ship the car all the way to Penske to get the special painted stripes done. Is the whole thing worth the effort and money? It is, if the owner is someone who is particular about attention to detail.
Vinyl stripes may be a lot cheaper. But they end up creating gaps which stand out at the end of each body panel. In comparison, painted stripes wrap around the edge of the panel, eliminating gaps completely.
If you’d like to opt for the easier-on-the-wallet vinyl stripes, they cost a lot less than the painted stripes. The leaked order guide of the 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 quotes the price as $1,000.
Prices of the Shelby Mustang GT500 start at $73,995 including destination fee and gas guzzler tax. With options like the $10,000 painted racing stripes, it won’t be that hard for Ford to sell units with a $100,000 price tag, if not higher.
