Well, it was inevitable. The McLaren 570S Spider has just been launched featuring a folding a hard-top that retracts in just 15 sec.
The 570S Spider is based around the McLaren’s Monocell II carbon fiber monocoque. With a kerb weight of 1452 kg, the Spider is slightly heavier than the coupe. While, styling is similar to the fixed-roof version, the folding mechanism is hidden away under a newly designed clamshell which give the 570S Spider distinct buttresses
Revised aerodynamics
To account for the revised roof design, the McLaren 570S Spider has a rear spoiler that sits 12 mm higher than the coupe. Rest of the is pretty similar with dihedral doors and a familiar front and rear fascia. The interior too has been carried over from the coupe.
Under the lightweight bodywork is a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 that puts out 562 hp at 7400 rpm and 443 lb-ft of torque at 5000-6500 rpm. These impressive numbers clearly reflect in the straight line performance. The 570S Spider sprints from 0-60 mph in 3.2 sec. 0-124 mph comes up in 9.6 sec and it can reach a top speed of 204 mph.
New wheels and color options
The 570S Spider rides on all-new 10-spoke 19-inch forged alloy wheels in the front and 20-inch rims at the rear. Carbon ceramic discs are standard.
The new McLaren 570S Spider is available in three new color options- Curacao Blur, Vega Blue and Sicilian Yellow. Customers can spec their cars in contrasting dark grey on the roof, A-pillars and buttresses.

The McLaren 570S Spider is priced from £164,750 in the UK.
