The new Lamborghini Aventador S Coupe has just been revealed. The model marks the return of the historic ‘S’ model in the form of the most iconic Lamborghini ever.
So, what’s new about the Aventador S?
On the outside, the new Aventador features refreshed styling that’s a bit toned down compared to the other versions of the model. The front gets a distinctly new looks with revised bumper. The iconic side vent has been swept back giving a sense of speed even when standing still.
Towards the rear, the diffuser area has been reworked. A new trapezoidal central exhaust replaces the old one and the pop-up vents on the clam shell have been replaced with fixed scoops. The overall revisions to the aerodynamics adds 130 percent more downforce in the front. A new three-way adjustable rear spoiler adds up 50 percent more downforce and reduces drag by 400 percent.
The Engine
As far the engine is concerned, the Lamborghini Aventador S was thought to feature the same V12 from the Centenario giving it a power boost. That however isn’t the case. It instead gets a 6.5-liter V12 naturally aspirated engine that makes 740 hp and 509 lb-ft. The engine now revs to 8500 rpm compared to 8350 rpm red line on the old version.
Chassis, Suspension and Drivetrain
New to the model is LDVA- short for Lamborghini Dinamica Veicolo Attiva/Lamborghini Active Vehicle Dynamics. Handling characteristics have been revised thanks to a Lamborghini Dynamic Steering (LDA) and Lamborghin Rear-wheel Steering (LRS). The 4 Active Suspension can be configured to suit different driving scenarios courtesy of magneto-rheological front and rear shocks. Also, being a top-of-the-line Lambo, it has all-wheel drive. A new customized EGO driving mode gives the driver more control over the dynamics of the vehicle.
The interior of the Lamborghini Aventador S can be customized to personal preferences of the customer. The new S-trim allows customers to choose from a variety of materials and shades including something called Carbon Skin.
The Aventador S goes on sale later next year.
