Car and Driver dyno tests prove that the 2020 Toyota GR Supra has got more horsepower and torque at its disposal than the figures stated in the company brochure.
We are living in an age when the official numbers for power, acceleration and top speed are being proved wrong. It’s certainly great to know that some of the cars on sale today are quicker, faster and more powerful than the official company claims. The latest kid on the block is the 2020 Toyota GR Supra which was dyno tested by Car and Driver to reveal a pleasant news.
The fifth-generation Supra was released to media for reviews recently. Car and Driver crushed their testing rounds, drawing out some awesome acceleration figures which validate Toyota’s statements that the A90 is indeed a strong successor to the original Japanese legend.
During road testing, the new Supra shattered 0-60 mph in 3.8 seconds – that’s better than the advertised figure of 4.1 seconds. It went on to cover a quarter-mile in 12.3 seconds at 113 mph. The performance put up by the 2020 Toyota GR Supra prompted the car magazine to roll the sports car on to a dynamometer at the Livernois Motorsports and Engineering in Dearborn Heights, Michigan to check if Toyota has understated the power and torque output. The advertised numbers for the BMW Z4-sourced turbocharged, 3.0-liter inline-six engine were 335 hp and 365 lb-ft. The tests showed that the Supra has 339 hp of power and 465 lb-ft of torque at the wheels. No wonder it outperformed in the road tests conducted.
