Lamborghini Urus will have a Twin-Turbo V8 Engine

The upcoming Urus SUV will be the first twin-turbo V8 engined Lamborghini. Stephano Domenicali told AutoNews that the Urus will use a 650 hp twin-turbo V8.

Moreover, later down the line, the Lamborghini Urus will also get a plug-in hybrid variant. But, there’s no talk of a V10 or V12 version of the Urus.

Lamborghini plans to build 1000 units of the premium SUV in 2018. The model will remain exclusive with no more than 3500 units planned for 2019. That said, Domenicali does not rule out a change in this number if demand persists.

The Lamborghini Urus is a product of the VW Group’s MLB platform which also underpins the latest Audi Q7 and Bentley Bentayga. The use of carbon fiber would reduce the overall weight of the Urus hopefully giving more dynamic handling characteristics, something that we expect from a Lamborghini.
