Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye Starts Production

The First Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye Rolls Out

The Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye has started rolling out of the furnace of hell. Dodge says it’s possessed by the Demon itself.

The Dodge Demon has stopped production and though you can get hold of mildly-used examples at astronomically high prices, you just can’t buy a new one. Enter, the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye – a muscle car which is the next best thing to the wicked Demon which is no longer available at your friendly neighbourhood Dodge dealer.

Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye

The first copy of the Hellcat Redeye drove out of FCA’s Brampton Assembly Plant in Ontario, Canada recently. Proving once again that Dodge continues to find ways to make the decade-old Challenger platform relevant and exciting for customers, the Hellcat Redeye is essentially the Demon’s younger brother.

It doesn’t pack the fire power of 840 hp and 770 lb-ft of the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon. But the Hellcat Redeye does share the same 6.2-liter V8 engine, 2.7-liter supercharger, enhanced connecting rods and pistons, high-speed valve train, special fuel injection system and lubrication system with the monster from hell.

The performance gap between the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye and the Demon will shorten once the aftermarket guys start tinkering with the car.

Power and torque output isn’t on par with the Demon, of course. But when you are getting 797 hp and 707 lb-ft from the engine bay, you have nothing but a massive evil grin on your face. Especially when you hear that the Dodge Demon spat out around 807 hp and 717 lb-ft when the fuel in the tank was 91 octane. Speaking of performance, 0-60 mph in 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 207 mph are strong figures to be amazed by. The Hellcat Redeye will cover a quarter mile in 10.8 seconds too.

Priced at $69,650 (excluding gas guzzler and destination charges), the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye is a lot cheaper than the Demon which retailed for $84,995 (excluding destination fee).
