McLaren will finally make the Speedtail public on October 26 and put an end to the endless stream of speculations and anticipation about the car which began with the car’s announcement in 2016. “McLaren Automotive, the British creator of luxury sportscars and supercars and now a Hyper-GT, will reveal the stunning, streamlined form of the McLaren Speedtail and some of its astonishing technical details online at 13:00BST on Friday, October 26”, McLaren said in a press release.
The Speedtail will be special car for McLaren. Not only is it a successor to the legendary F1 of the 90s but will also be the fastest car the Woking-based automaker has ever built. While we know that the hypercar will be faster than 243 mph, thanks to its 1000+ hp hybrid powertrain, McLaren has promised to confirm the Speedtail’s top speed on the reveal date.
The teaser image shows a sculpted rear clam shell with a glass engine cover. Also, the ‘Speedtail’ logo can be seen in the centre of the rear fascia. The car’s interior with its centrally-mounted driving seat will also be revealed later this month. McLaren says that the interior of the Speedtail will “deliver an unprecedented blend of contemporary craftsmanship, material innovation and bespoke personalisation.’
The Speedtail is the first of 18 new cars or derivatives that McLaren will introduce as part of its Track25 business plan. The entire production of the hybrid hypercar was allocated before the project, which was announced in November 2016 – codenamed BP23. Production is due to begin at the end of next year, with every Speedtail personalized to each owner’s taste by McLaren Special Operations (MSO). All 106 customers have paid a base price of £1.75 million for the hypercar.
