Mercedes-AMG, like everyone else have shifted to forced induction engines. The gorgeous Mercedes-AMG GT uses an all-new 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 and so does the new C63 sedan. A direct rival to the BMW M3 that dropped its V8 for a more sedate V6, Mercedes instead decided to retain the V8 but boost it with two turbos. Now, AMG fans loved the naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8, so has adding a turbocharged V8 ruined the whole experience?
Well, Drew Stearne decided to find out for himself. The new Mercedes-AMG C63 S is different but it still is an animal when it comes to the driving experience. With all the electronic power, it is a tame beast despite the fact that the 4.0-liter bi-turbo V8 pumps out 510 hp that drive the rear wheels. With a completely new interior styling, the C63 feels more civilized from within, Unless, of course you open taps and ride 516 torques to reach 62 mph in 4.0-seconds.
To sum up, the new Mercedes-AMG C63 S is a comfortable, executive saloon with a brilliant sounding V8 that’s greener and uses less fuel as you move along. Mercedes-Benz have certainly been able to retain its soul.
