Bugatti may have built just three new cars in the modern era, but their designers have been working on various concepts that never saw the light of day. Now, Bugatti has opened its vault to show us some of the secret concept cars that never made it to production.

The images released by Bugatti feature three concepts, of which two are front-engined hyper-GTs. The other car is an open-top Speedster called the Veyron Barchetta.

W16 GT “Rembrandt” Concept

This concept car seems like a precursor to the La Voiture Noire that was unveiled at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. It has similar lines and also shares some design elements with the one-off. The biggest difference however is the fact that the engine is mounted in the front. This gives the car a classic GT profile with an elongated hood and short overhangs.

Bugatti Atlantic Concept

The Atlantic Concept was not so much of a secret. It was scheduled to be unveiled at Pebble Beach in 2015. However, this was around the same time when the so-called Dieselgate scandal was making headlines.

The concept car draws inspiration from the legendary 1936 Type 57 Atlantic. Again, the car is front-engined and has a rounded split grille like the original Atlantic. Bugatti designers also envisioned a convertible version finished in a dual-tone theme. However, the hard-top looks more interesting thanks to its butterfly doors and the rear clam shell.

Veyron Barchetta

The Veyron Barchetta is an open-top speedster based on the Grand Sport Vitesse. The car has a wraparound windscreen and a wider horseshoe grille at the front. The quad tail lights have been replaced with slim, horizontal units.

After looking at these renderings, I am sure there will be at least one wealthy individual who would want Bugatti to build a one-off for him. If they do, it will be a worthy rival for the Pagani Zonda HP Barchetta.
