The Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport was unveiled at Pebble Beach back in 2006. So, when the Chiron came along, everyone was expecting Bugatti to introduce a targa version. However, 4 years into its life cycle and there’s still no word about a Chiron Grand Sport.
We have seen quite a few variations of the Chiron till now. Some of these are tuned versions like the Chiron Sport, Pur Sport and Super Sport 300+, while others are coachbuilt special editions like the Divo, Centodieci and La Voiture Noire. But, if you want to have an open-top experience in a Chiron, the Sky View glass roof is your only option.
But, what if you’re an oil baron and want to add a Chiron Roadster to your expansive supercar collection. Well, all you have to do, is write a hefty cheque and Bugatti might just agree to build one for you. In fact, sources have told us that Bugatti does intend to build one.
The Chiron Roadster might get a fancy name by the time it’s ready. But, for now, all we know is that an open-top version of the Chiron is being offered to customers. It is said to be a one-off project and therefore, one would expect it to cost a lot more than the standard car. Well, we have learnt that the asking price is €9 million before taxes.
We think, since it’s a one-off, it would have to be more than just a targa version of the Chiron. A speedster with a wraparound windshield like the Veyron Barchetta concept seen in these images would be more like it.
