Having delivered all 40 units of the Divo, Bugatti has now shifted its focus to the Chiron Super Sport 300+. The first prototype has finally hit the road ahead of production.
As we all know, the Chiron Super Sport is a completely different beast. Unlike the Divo or the Chiron Pur Sport, this car is built for one thing only – SPEED. It is the first production car to achieve the magical figure of 500 km/h, that has since kicked off a race to build ever faster road cars.
The Chiron SS 300+ has a distinct exterior that has been designed to slice through air with the least resistance. While the trick aero helps keep the car planted on the tarmac, it’s the mighty Thor engine that propels it to those insane speeds.
Bugatti’s so-called Thor engine is based on the same 8.0-liter W16 block. However, the quad-turbo motor has been tuned to produce 1600 hp. The same engine powers the more exclusive Centodieci as well.
Earlier, Matt Watson had got a ride in a Chiron Super Sport test mule. But, that was on a race track and the car was limited to 300 km/h.
