John Hennessey has told Top Gear that he is open to building a ‘GTR’ style Venom F5.
The Venom F5 GTR will be a track-focused version of the 300 mph hypercar. It will have a high-downforce aero package. While it will most certainly limit its top speed, the GTR would be a lot quicker through the corners.
The Venom F5 GTR would be powered by the same 6.6-liter, twin-turbo V8 engine. This beast of an engine, known internally as ‘Fury’ pumps out 1817 hp @ 8000 rpm and 1,193 lb-ft @ 5000 rpm. It is hooked up to a semi-automatic single-clutch transmission.
The GTR would swap its low-drag bodywork for a more aggressive setup possibly replete with a larger splitter and canards at the front and a spoiler at the rear.
But, that’s in the future. For now, the company is focusing on Venom F5.
“Right now, we’re focused on the car as it is,” Hennessey said. “We do get the question from time to time, whether we might do a track-focused car, or other derivatives.”
Thankfully, Hennessey won’t build an all-electric version.
“There won’t be an electrified version, but at some point I think a high-downforce, GTR-type version would be cool to do,” he added.
