Koenigsegg Regera is a different kind of supercar. It is a hybrid to start with, but it hasn’t got a conventional gearbox. Koenigsegg has found a way to completely do away with the need for a transmission. The ramifications are quite obvious and reduction in weight is just one of the advantages.
The Swedish supercar maker is currently working on a protoype Regera and every so often Christian Von Koenigsegg- the top boss takes it out for a drive. This time, he decided to take one of his employees along who like any 21st century chap decided to record the whole experience of riding along in a Koenigsegg Regera prototype with his boss at the wheel.
The Regera is a engineering marvel. With no transmission to haul around, the Regera can accelerate to 100 kph in a blink of an eye and a “hydraulic coupling” provides the sensation of gearshifts.
