The Aston Martin Valkyrie is still in development but the owners of the sold-out supercar have already started spec-ing their cars.
While talking to Bloomberg at an event, Aston Martin chief designer, Marek Reichman said “They’re excited. They’re literally 150 boys and girls waiting for Christmas.” The event was in fact exclusive viewing and customer fitting event for the Valkyrie which was held for a few American and international buyers during the annual Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in California last month.
Each customer will receive a 1:18 scale model of their spec and if they don’t like it, they can ask Aston to send in another one.
“Once you spec your car, you’ll get a 1-to-18 scale model in the colors that you’ve selected,” Reichman said. “You’ll get the model, and you’ll go, ‘I love it,’ or, ‘Hmm, I’d like to switch this.’ Then you’ll come back to us, and we’ll repeat the process,” he added.
Almost every part of the car is customizable. Customers can choose the materials for the seats, dashboard, headliner, and trim, the finish and reflectivity of the body panels and even the wheel coverings. If you think this is extravagance, this is not the end of the customization process. The Valkyrie’s tub is small, barely big for two people to sit inside. Since there are no actual seats, you sit on a padding installed directly to the tub. To ensure maximum comfort, Aston Martin will 3D scan each customer to mold the padding according to the size of the customer.

The fact that the customers have already started customizing the car suggests that the aesthetics and the interior specifications are close to completion. Aside from few aero tweaks here and there, not much is going to change, even if the car is yet to start testing in the real world.
We can’t wait to see how customers spec their Valkyries when deliveries begin in 2019.
