Aston Martin Valkyrie Specs Leaked: Power, Torque, Kerb Weight

Update: Aston Martin Valkyrie officially revealed

It has been a year since the Aston Martin Valkyrie was first showcased in concept form. Recently, a production-spec Valkyrie was unveiled at a private event. While, Aston Martin has been keeping mum about the Valkyrie specs a recent leak sheds some light on its power, torque and kerb weight.

Cosworth V12 engine specs

We all know, that the Valkyrie will use a 6.5-liter V12 built by Cosworth. The detailed specifications of the naturally aspirated V12 engine were a close guarded secret, until recently. According to the leaked details, the Cosworth V12 produces 1000 hp. It is assisted by an electric motor powered by an F1-style kinetic energy recovery system which adds another 130 hp taking the combined output to 1130 hp.

The Valkyrie will be built entirely out of lightweight carbon fiber. It is based around a carbon monocoque similar to the LaFerrari, McLaren P1 and the upcoming Mercedes-AMG Project One hypercar.

Power-to-weight

Thus, one would expect the Valkyrie to weigh a lot less than your average family car. Well, in fact, it is lighter than the lightest sports cars. Weighing in at just over a tonne, the Aston Martin Valkyrie tips the scales to 2270 lbs or 1030 kg.

As Road & Track rightly pointed out, “the Valkyrie is roughly 60 pounds lighter than the Mazda MX-5 Miata, with more power than a LaFerrari.”

Aston Martin and Adrian Newey of Red Bull Racing wanted to built a hypercar with a 1:1 power-to-weight ratio. The figures suggest they are on the right track and could be exceeding their target.
