In the last couple of years, we’ve seen various iterations of the Bugatti Chiron. From limited edition coach built models like the Divo and Centodieci to the track-focused Pur Sport and the 300 mph Chiron Super Sport 300+. Now, they’ve has built their most extreme hypercar yet and it’s called the Bugatti Bolide.
Unlike all the other variations of the Chiron, the Bolide track hypercar is based on a brand new chassis. The car features minimal body work and every surface is designed to generate maximum downforce. If Bugatti ever decides to enter the 24 Hours of Le Mans, this is what their car would look like.
The only similarity between the Bugatti Bolide and the Chiron is the 8.0-liter, W16 engine. However, that too has been modified so that it now puts out 1850 hp and 1364 lb-ft of torque. It is hooked up to a 7-speed DSG and all-wheel drive. Factor in the car’s weight and you have a weight-to-power ratio of 0.67 kg/hp! That’s right, the Bolide weighs just 1240 kg. That’s 637 kg less than a standard Chiron.
Bugatti estimates the Bolide will do 527.4 km/h (327.7 mph). It will accelerate from 0-62 mph in 2.17 seconds and will complete the 0-500-0 run in just 33.62 seconds. Bugatti has also run simulations on the Nurburgring and the Circuit de la Sarthe at Le Mans. It is said that the car will complete a lap of the Green Hell in 5min 23.1 seconds and a lap of Le Mans will be done and dusted in 3 min 07.1 seconds.
