Ben Collins, popularly known as ‘the Stig’, recently got a chance to get behind the wheel of the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport. Top Gear’s tame racing driver has driven the Veyron Super Sport in the past, which is why he was the ideal person to test out Bugatti’s new record-breaking hypercar.
It doesn’t take long for Ben to realize that the Chiron Super Sport is a big leap from the Veyron he drove a few years ago. That said, the car still seemed quite easy to drive. He was also mesmerized by the amount of grip on offer. The Super Sport just hugs the corners and sprints off into the distance with a slight twitch of the loud pedal.
The Super Sport is a slightly tamer version of the limited edition Super Sport 300+. That 1600 hp W16 engine is capable of powering the car to over 300 mph. However, Super Sport is electronically limited to 273 mph, which isn’t slow by any standards.
While this car has gone into the history books as the first production road car to crack 300 mph, there are others who claim to be quicker. The Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut has been built to challenge the mighty Bugatti. The Hennessey Venom F5 is also in this race.
