The first 2020 Shelby GT500 pays homage to the 1968 Green Hornet.
If you can recall, the first production-spec 2020 Shelby GT500 was auctioned off by Barrett-Jackson back in January 2019. Craig Jackson had placed the winning bid of $1.1 million.
That same car was given a thorough makeover to match the 1968 Shelby EXP500 prototype that also happens to be part of Craig’s garage. The car was repainted giving it a Lime Green base coat with Candy Apple Green on top to add some depth to the color. The white decals on the sides also match those on the Green Hornet.
The latest Shelby GT500 packs a 5.2-liter V8 that has a 2.65 liter supercharger bolted to it. The result of this is 760 hp and 625 lb-ft of torque, all of which is fed to the rear wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. It’s no surprise then the GT500 will do 0-60 mph in 3.3 seconds and has a top speed of 180 mph.
