There’s no doubt the Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4 was the star of the 2021 Monterey Car Week. We believe the design successfully captures the essence of the original Countach while adding a modern touch to it. That’s just our opinion. But, what does Frank Stephenson has to say about it?
From the designer’s perspective, there are a few opportunities to improve the styling of the new Countach to tie it with the original. A modern interpretation of the pop-up headlamps would’ve been great. Also, like most of us, Frank thinks the car should’ve had bespoke tail lamps instead of the triple-pod clusters from the Sian.
The Countach was the successor to the Miura and was developed under the codename ‘LP112’. That’s why Lamborghini has pegged the production of the tribute car to 112 units.
It is powered by a 6.5-liter V12 engine mated to a hybrid system that uses a supercapacitor instead of a conventional lithium-ion battery. While this setup is similar to the Sian, it now packs 814 hp.
