According to Brooks from Dragtimes, the McLaren 765LT has set the fastest quarter mile time for a production car. It’s even quicker than the purpose-built Dodge Demon!
On the initial passes, the 765LT clocked a 9.47 second quarter mile on stock Pirelli P Zero tyres. On much sticker rubber, the times dropped to 9.40 seconds. So, clearly, the 765LT could do sub-10 second runs all day long.
But, Brooks was not done yet. He took the car out for another run and destroyed his previous best time. The 765LT ran a 9.33 second quarter mile at 150.87 mph. Earlier, Brooks had tested his friend’s 765LT and it did 9.88 seconds @ 146.20 mph.
The McLaren 765LT is the track-focused version of the 720S. It weighs 80 kg less than the 730S and packs more power. McLaren claims that with all the weight reduction, the car weighs 1229 kg.
Powering the 765LT is a 4.0-liter, twin-turbo V8 that puts out 755 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. The engine is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. As per the brochure, the 765LT does 0-60 mph in 2.7 seconds and 0-124 mph in 7.2 seconds.

Sweet!! For my money, I’ll still take a C8 though. Please!?!?! 2.9s is good enough for my 5pm commute in stop and go traffic. Haha 😀
Tesla Plaid expected to do 1/4 mile in 9.3 seconds flat, the Plaid+ being released later this year, also expected to be sub 9 second (and it costs 1/3 the price of a MacLaren).
Tesla Plaid 0-60 in 1.99s, curb weight 2241 kg, 1050 HP, top speed 200 mph
Yep, just saw the stats. Absolutely insane figures. Hope to see Dragtimes test it out soon.
