Koenigsegg Agera RS Gryphon Crashes for the Second Time

The second accident happens almost exactly one year after the first Agera RS Gryphon crash.

In May 2017, the Agera RS Gryphon slated to join Manny Khoshbin’s Garage was crashed at the NEVS test track in Trolhattan, Sweden. Following the crash, the customer was offered a new Agera RS build-slot and the Gryphon was converted to a Koenigsegg test vehicle. The car was fully rebuilt at the Koenigsegg facility – everything from the carbon fiber bodywork to the 5.0-liter bi-turbo V8 engine that produces 1,160 hp.

Unfortunately, the rebuilt Gryphon has suffered another crash exactly one year after the accident at NEVS facility. A Teknikens Varld reader has shared a picture of the Gryphon which seems to have sustained minor damage. Also, it has been reported that the driver walked away unharmed.

It isn’t clear why Koenigsegg is still running this car now that the Agera RS production has ended and all cars have been delivered to their customers. One possibility is that the car could be a test mule of the Agera RS successor which is scheduled to launch early next year and will feature an upgraded version of the twin-turbo V8 seen on the Agera RS. Another possibility is that Koenigsegg might be planning to sell it or auction if off like it did with the One:1 test car.

Meanwhile, Manny Khoshbin has recently taken delivery of his Agera RS Phoenix.
