Earlier this month, the Porsche Panamera set a new Nurburgring lap record for “executive cars”. It beat the previous best time set by the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door coupe. But, Mercedes will be back at the track hoping to regain its lost crown.
2 years ago, the AMG GT 4-Door Coupe had clocked a lap time of 7 min 30.109 seconds is what is being described as “adverse conditions”. The new Panamera was 3 seconds quicker (7 min 29.81 seconds) and now hold the record.

Mercedes has shared this on-board footage of its record attempt from 2 years ago. The automaker has also announced its intention to challenge Porsche’s record time. The game is on!
