The latest spy images suggest that Ferrari’s next Icona supercar is well on track. This early test mule was clearly trying hard to conceal its identity with that hideous camouflage.
Last month, we had reported that the next Ferrari Icona is likely to be revealed before the end of this year. Unlike the Monza, the new model will feature a more aggressive look. It is said that the car is inspired by the 1967 Ferrari 330 P4.
Can you find any similarities in this prototype?
Here’s what we’ve observed. The car has a low slung nose and a rear end that’s slightly taller. It appears to have a flat-ish engine cover with an extended wing at the back. One of the biggest giveaways though is the position of the rearview mirrors. Just like the 330 P4, the mirrors are mounted on the front fenders.
We also know that the next Icona will be based on the LaFerrari Aperta. While it is expected to use the hypercar’s chassis, the engine will be from the 812 Competizione. The 6.5-liter, naturally aspirated V12 engine produces 830 hp @ 9250 rpm and 510 lb-ft @ 7000 rpm.
