Koenigsegg first introduced its incredible “Naked” Carbon Fiber tech last year on the Regera. The Koenigsegg Naked Carbon or KNC for short allows a car to have a truly bare carbon finish as the surface features no lacquer, varnish or alternative coating being used on top.
The company presented the same Regera at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, alongside the new Jesko. F1 world champion Nico Rosberg was one of the people most impressed by the unique finish and made sure to ask Christian von Koenigsegg about it. As always, CvK was more than eager to share details about his brainchild. The explanation starts at 2:13.
Koenigsegg has been applying the KNC method for several years to parts such as wheels, wings, splitters, winglets and steering wheels. But this is the first time, it’s been featured on the entire exterior. The absence of any additional coating allows the KNC Regera to be 20 kg lighter than a standard one. Christian has also revealed that the company is only making eight KNC Regeras, which translates to 10% of the entire production run.
The naked carbon Regera was delivered to a customer in Switzerland last year but the gentleman was kind enough to lend his hypercar to the company for the show.
