It’s been more than 10 years since the Nissan 370Z first came out. A replacement is clearly long overdue.
According to Autocar, Nissan is aware of this fact and is working on its successor. It could be called the 400Z.
It is believed that the Nissan 400Z is more likely to use an existing platform instead of a brand new one. It could be based on the Infiniti Q60.
Moreover, it could also borrow a powertrain from its sister brand. The car is rumored to use a 3.0-liter, twin-turbo V6. In the Q60, this engine produces 400 hp. But, unlike the Q60, the 400Z is expected to be rear-wheel drive. Besides, to keep enthusiasts happy, Nissan might offer a manual gearbox in addition to an automatic. Also, expect the 400Z to get a pumped-up Nismo variant in the future.
Autocar has also learned that the 400Z could borrow styling cues from the Z cars from the past. More precisely, it could get a 240Z-inspired front end and 300ZX-inspired tail lights. On the inside, the car could get a major overhaul including a digital instrument cluster.
