General Motors’s Bowling Green Assembly line in Kentucky has finally started building the C8 Corvette. This was confirmed by Chevrolet on Twitter.
Chevrolet has posted an image of a black C8 Corvette rolling off the assembly line. The Twitter post also confirms that Chevy will produce the hard-top coupe initially. The convertible is expected to go into production sometime around April-May 2020.

Chevy’s production plans for the all-new mid-engine Corvette were adversely affected due to the UAW strike in 2019. However, following the initial hiccup, things seem to be returning back to normal.
Meanwhile, the first C8 Corvette Stingray has already found an owner. The car was purchased by NASCAR team owner Rick Hendrick. He paid more than $2 million over sticker!
The base price of the C8 Corvette is $59,995. For that, you get the 1LT version. Then, there’s the 3LT, which starts at around $72,000. The Z51 package costs another $5,000. Add a few options like wheels, brake caliper colors, interior and exterior options as well as engine appearance packs and the price will go past $80,000.
