The McLaren 765LT is the more hardcore version of the 720S. This track focused supercar is lighter and packs a lot more punch the latter. Therefore, you might have already guessed the result of this race. Still, it’s pretty cool to watch.
The 720S stands no chance of beating the 765LT in a drag race. Besides the aforementioned factors, the 765LT also has shorter gearing that enables it to accelerate faster.
Also note how the rear spoiler on the LT is extended, while the one on the 720S is retracted for low drag. Clearly, the electronics on the 765LT are tuned for higher downforce and grip.
The 765LT uses a 4.0-liter, twin-turbo V8 that puts out 755 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. The engine is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. It does 0-60 mph in 2.7 seconds and 0-124 mph in 7.2 seconds.
Last week, Dragtimes tested the car out on a prepped dragstrip and it clocked a 9.33 second quarter mile.
