Rolls Royce Dawn Black Badge Convertible Revealed

Rolls Royce has added the Dawn Black Badge to its exclusive luxury line up. Following the Ghost and Wraith, the Dawn convertible has now been given the Black Badge treatment. The special edition model will showcased at the 2017 Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Black Badge models are designed to appeal to the younger buyer. But, it’s not just about aesthetics. The Dawn Black Badge also gets a revised engine with a 30 hp boost over the standard Dawn.

The 6.6-liter twin-turbo V12 has been tweaked so that it now produces 593 hp and 620 lb-ft of torque at 1500 rpm. That’s 15 lb-ft more than the Dawn in its standard guise.

The extra performance helps accelerate the Dawn Black Badge from 0-60 mph in 4.9 sec. That’s respectable for what is essentially a 2 tonne luxury convertible. Top speed has been limited to 155 mph. A new exhaust system gives it a bassy exhaust sound while tauter suspension allows for an exhilarating drive.

The Dawn Black Badge is available in a unique shade of black which Rolls Royce describe as “deeply intense”. Like all Rolls Royce cars, this special edition Dawn is hand polished and features a matching black fabric roof. The black treatment continues over the rear deck which is wrapped in black leather. Interior trim is crafted out of aircraft-grade aluminium and carbon fiber.
