Tuner says 2020 Toyota GR Supra’s BMW B58 Engine can make 1,000 HP

Papadakis Racing believes that the BMW-sourced engine of the 2020 Toyota GR Supra can be tuned to produce 1,000 horses. Just do it, guys!

The 2020 Toyota GR Supra has finally started reaching its first batch of owners and among the new customers are some of the best tuners in the country. One of them is Papadakis Racing which got hold of the new-gen Supra and is planning to tune it up to a whopping 1,000 hp. Sounds insane and impossible? Well, they don’t think so.

In the latest video uploaded to its YouTube channel, the expert tuner rips apart the standard 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder to prove that the BMW-sourced B58 can make a lot more than 335 hp. According to the tuner, the engine block and crankshaft can take up to 1,000 horses.

If Papadakis Racing succeeds in creating and presenting a 1,000 hp Supra right on time for the 2019 SEMA Show, it will be joined by numerous other tuners with their own takes on the revival car. The B58 engine has been around for some years and has proven to be a reliable and scalable unit strong enough to endure aftermarket tuning. The upcoming SEMA will be the perfect platform to showcase what the B58 can truly achieve under the hood of the Supra, when the right people work their magic.

And of course, a 1,000 hp 2020 Supra will finally lay to rest all the criticism from the fanboys regarding Toyota’s decision to opt for the BMW B58 engine as the successor for the 2JZ which powered the previous-generation model of the legendary Japanese sports car.
