According to Auto Express, Ferrari’s first SUV dubbed the Purosangue will share its underpinnings with the Roma. The information comes from none other than Ferrari’s chief technology officer Michael Lieters.
The Ferrari Roma is two-door GT car that was unveiled last month. It uses a modular front-engine platform, which will be adapted for the Purosangue. The platform also supports four-wheel drive and is compatible with V6, V8 and V12 engines. Leiters also confirmed that going forward, Ferrari will have two separate architectures for front engine and rear (mid) engine cars.
Ferrari’s marketing department has coined the term ‘FUV’ for their first ever sports utility vehicle. The project is internally referred to by the codename 175.
The Purosangue is expected to lock horns with the Aston Martin DBX and the Lamborghini Urus. It will be a 4-seater SUV measuring 5 meters in length.
